This is a digital reproduction of an image held at the Library of Congress.

The photograph shows the interior of the Church of Nativity and the barrel of blessed water on Epiphany day. Both Catholics and Protestants celebrate the Epiphany, whilst traditions vary from religion to religion. It is one of the oldest Christian feasts, dating back before the establishment of the Christmas holiday.

This image exists as part of the Nativity Church collection within the Library of Congress project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
