This is a digital reproduction of an image held in the Library of Congress.

The image depicts a family and animals in the ruins of an old Bethlehem home. The image seems to have been staged to resemble the biblical nativity scene. The mother, in this interpretation, could represent the Virgin Mary holding her child. This image is a cropped version of the original.

This image exists as part of the Bethlehem People and Places collection within the Library of Congress project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
