This is a digital reproduction of an image held at the Library of Congress.

This photograph shows a view of Bethlehem from a belfry, displaying the Church of the Nativity and Herodium. Herodium is a cone-shaped hill in the West Bank where Herod the Great built a palace fortress and is believed to have been buried. This image is a cropped version of the original held at the Library of Congress.

This image exists as part of the Nativity Church collection within the Library of Congress project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
