The photograph depicts the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The church is located on the spot believed to be the birthplace of Jesus Christ and is one of the most sacred Christian sites in the world. The people in the photograph are dressed in traditional attire such as the head cloth and head rope worn by the man.

This image exists as part of the Nativity Church collection within the Library of Congress project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
