Hilweh Farhat to Suleiman Farhat, 16 August 1930

The images are a digital reproduction of a handwritten letter and accompanying translation donated by Kathy Sa'ade Kenny.

In this letter Hilweh Farhat's thanks Suleiman Farhat for the money he has sent to the Farhat family in Ramallah. She explains that Jiryes Farhat, their father, has been ill but that their land and the olive trees are flourishing. She also notes the political situation in Palestine at the time describing the wrecked economy, growing tensions, the rebellion as well as recent Jewish attacks on Palestinian crops. Suleiman, Katrina and their children were living in California at the time. Issa Farhat scribes.
