Karim Mukarker (from Beit Jala) interviewed by Hala Amro.
He describes the following: great suffering under the Ottomans during World War I; Ottoman army used to follow the horses to collect their dung because of hunger and poverty; by the end of World War I the situation was so bad that local people saw the British as their saviours.
