This is a digital reproduction of an image held in the Library of Congress.

The image depicts a street scene in Bethlehem, showing two camels. Camels were a fundamental mode of transport in Bethlehem. The photograph is also designed to conjure biblical associations with the Three Wise Men. The image is a cropped version of the original.
