Mixing poetry by the major Anglo-American poets with a host of lesser know authors. The book contans a fifty two page contextualising introductin setting out the historical and cultural context for the poems, and a detailed chronology of major events in England France and America. Each poem has a lengthy individual cricitcal/biographical introduction and detailed annotation.
