Introduction to permafrost and periglacial features

chapter
posted on 2025-03-12, 12:06 authored by Julian MurtonJulian Murton

Mechanistic understanding of cold-climate processes is essential to elucidate the Quaternary significance of the resulting permafrost and periglacial features. However, some Pleistocene periglacial environments (e.g., Beringia) were distinctly different from Holocene ones. Improvements in dating, remote sensing and digital elevation models aid our understanding of periglacial landform and landscape evolution.
