figure
posted on 2019-05-30, 14:56 authored by Freja Howat-Maxted, Leila Sansour, Jacob NorrisJacob NorrisThis is a digital reproduction of an image held in the private collection of George Harb.
This photograph was taken at a party in the mid to late 1960s and shows a group of young adults gathered around a man playing guitar. In the background a nun and priest can be seen.
The period of the photo is indicated by the style of dress. The hairstyles of the girls in this image are worn in a more voluminous manner, some wearing a bouffant, others with hair combed back into a sleeker updo. Hairstyles of the 1960s grew evermore more elaborate, as hair became a symbolic representation of the counterculture revolution of the time.
This image is part of the George Harb Photos collection, within the George Harb project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
