This is a digital reproduction of an image held at the Library of Congress.

The photograph shows the interior of the Church of the Nativity, and the descent to the Grotto. The Grotto of the Nativity is believed to be the place of Jesus Christ's birth. The current architecture of the Grotto has been completely modified over the years.

This image exists as part of the Nativity Church collection within the Library of Congress project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
