Figures are generally photos, graphs and static images that would be represented in traditional pdf publications.
This image is a digital reproduction of a black and white photograph donated by William Kattan.
The photograph features Mario Barbagallo, son of Josephine Barbagallo (nee Giries Kattan) in an internment camp in El Obeid, Sudan. All Italian civilian nationals living and working in Sudan were interred in camps such as this one until the end of the war. Rules in the camp were quite relaxed and some recreational activities were permitted. Men played tennis and amused themselves by catching animals such as the monkey in this photograph.
This image exists as part of the Kattan Family Photos collection within the William Kattan project of the Planet Bethlehem Archive.
