Comparative study of 10 species of eusocial wasps and the honey bee that shows that a smaller proportion of workers lay eggs in species in which the policing, i.e. killing, of worker-paid eggs is more effective. This shows that worker altruism in modern day social insects is largely enforced.Full text available
