The paper examines the lack of joined-up policy-making between two of the major arms of EU policy, namely macroeconomics and technology. It uses advanced econometric methods to show that causation runs from the macro-economy (demand) to technology (supply) as frequently as the reverse, and concludes on the need to integrate aggregate demand and aggregate supply in policy making. The topic it pioneered became an entire thematic area in the EU Framework Programme 7.Full text available
