The politics of feeling

Contemporary politics is often said to have become too emotional; feelings have replaced facts; passion outweighs reason – and all of this drives polarisation. Looking at the experience of Brexit suggests this is a self-perpetuating cycle. It is not the feelings we have about politics that are the problem, but the political stories we tell about feelings.
