posted on 2024-02-05, 12:25 authored by Ester Mcgeeney, Ali Ronan

In October 2019 the Proud Trust hosted a residential weekend in the Lake District with a group of young lesbian, bisexual and pansexual (LBP) women. The young women came from Proud Trust groups across Greater Manchester and Cheshire and as well as young women from Merseyside. They ranged in age from 15-24. The purpose of the weekend was to discuss their experiences of the spaces that the Proud Trust provide and the wider issue of women only spaces. Over the course of the weekend the young women also discussed other issues which were important to them. These recordings capture some of those discussions.  The file contains six podcasts created by the young women.  1. This is two young women discussing some of the issues faced by young LBP women with additional needs, particularly autism. 2. This is a group of younger and older LBP women talking about their experience as women of faith. 3. This is young women discussing their views of the benefits of women only spaces. 4. This is a group of older and younger women of colour talking about their experiences. 5. This is a young woman, who comes to our Young Women’s Health project group and Fusion group for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young people talking about Women Only spaces. 6. As part of a workshop young women discussed in groups their experiences of different settings. This group of older and younger women talk about their experiences of the gym.
