Hope and friendship as practices of struggle

presentation

This workshop will look at practices of hope and radical friendship as they are performed at sites of community gathering and protest. These range from everyday practices of hope and solidarity in the coastal city of Brighton and Hove to practices located around particular struggles such as the communal preparation and eating of langar during the 2020-21 farmers’ protest movement in India. We will also think together about ways in which ‘hopeful’ practices are entangled in UK higher education strikes and gather resources for wider ongoing battles over place and belonging.
