Library Show and Tell 2020: Flipped Learning - a new approach to Library teaching

This term we have been trialling a new ‘flipped learning’ approach to delivering library training to ensure that it is as effective, accessible, and engaging as possible. It has include a variety of formats to suit different approaches to learning and varying bandwidths.

The 'Literature searching for beginners' series, that you will see in the ‘Year One’ section of the ‘Teaching Academic Skills' site, is mapped against QAA and ADQE guidelines, along with the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Each part of the series corresponds to a different learning outcome:

For Year One, by the end of the different sessions students will be able to…

1. identify the appropriate search tools for academic study

2. create an effective search using Library Search

3. evaluate the suitability of different materials to complete your work

4. save and store items on Library Search

5. reference the materials you find using the Skills Hub
