Notes
This project was funded by HEFCE and has both practical and theoretical significance. The research investigated the needs of employers and related organisations for information about quality and standards in higher education. Research methods included analysis of relevant literature, interviews, a web-based survey and focus groups. The project ascertained views from employers on proposals to change the way in which student achievement is recorded and the findings are cited as a major source of evidence in the Burgess Report. The Report makes a significant contribution to the debate about major policy priorities in higher education: the introduction of graduate employability skills, the transfer of knowledge from education to workplace settings and the employment challenges of widening participation. Morley was Project Director; Aynsley was responsible for the interview data collection and contributed to the report writing and dissemination, including presenting papers at two of the national Burgess Group conferences.Institution
